Medvedev, ironic post about the Trump-Putin call: Brussels sprouts, British fried fish and potatoes, and a Parisian rooster

Dmitri Medvedev has once again stirred controversy with a bizarre post on platform X, in which he compared the Russia-US negotiations regarding Ukraine to a dinner menu. The former Russian president mocked the European Union, the United Kingdom, and France, describing them as „appetizers,” while Ukraine is seen as the „main course.”

Medvedev sees Europe as dishes at a dinner

Russia’s Deputy Security Council Chairman, Dmitri Medvedev, on Wednesday compared discussions between Russia and the US regarding Ukraine to a dinner menu, portraying the European Union, France, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine as dishes served at dinner.

His message alludes to the limited influence of Europeans in major geopolitical decisions.

The post came in the context of a phone discussion between Putin and Trump about a possible ceasefire.

Medvedev's provocative rhetoric confirms his increasingly aggressive style on social media.

"The phone call between Presidents Putin and Trump confirmed a well-known idea – in the dining room, there are only Russia and America. On the menu: light appetizers - Brussels sprouts, British fish and chips, and Parisian coq au vin. The main course is a Kiev cutlet. Enjoy your meal!!" wrote Medvedev in English on platform X.

During a debate at the 2024 Munich Security Conference, former US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told participants: "If you're not at the table in the international system, you'll be on the menu," as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Putin defies Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump discussed plans for a ceasefire to end the crisis in Ukraine during a phone call on Tuesday.

The discussion lasted 90 minutes and touched on bilateral relations and various international topics.

Although Putin hinted at agreeing to a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine and President Trump announced it, Russia bombarded Ukraine.

According to Russian media, the Kremlin stated that an essential condition for resolving the conflict should be "the complete cessation of external military assistance and exchange of information with Kiev."
