President of the Parliament in Chișinău: It is important to come out in as large numbers as possible to vote in order to save Romania's European path

The President of the Parliament in Chișinău made an appeal on Tuesday to Moldovans holding Romanian documents to come out in large numbers to vote „to save Romania’s European path.”

Igor Grosu stated that he had a phone conversation on Tuesday with Ilie Bolojan, whom he congratulated on his election as interim president of the National Liberal Party in Romania.

"Following the results of Sunday's elections, the National Liberal Party has shown political maturity, making some difficult decisions that put national interests above party interests. I assured President Bolojan of my full support in organizing the parliamentary elections on December 1, as well as the second round of the presidential elections on December 8 in the territory of the Republic of Moldova," wrote Igor Grosu on Facebook, according to Mediafax.

He called on Moldovans with Romanian citizenship to vote in as large numbers as possible.

"In the next two weeks, dear Moldovans with Romanian documents, it is important for us to come out in large numbers to vote to save Romania's European path. Together, we fight until the end for Romania to remain a free, democratic country and an important factor for regional stability," added Grosu.

The people of Bessarabia gave Elena Lasconi 45,590 votes in the first round of Sunday's presidential elections. Out of the 80,939 Romanians who voted in the Republic of Moldova (a record number), 56.65% opted for Lasconi.

Elena Lasconi also received tens of thousands of votes from Bessarabians with Romanian passports living in Europe and the USA. These were crucial votes, considering the very small difference between the USR candidate and Marcel Ciolacu, who ranked third. In second place (after Lasconi) was Nicolae Ciucă (PNL) with 20.1% of the votes, according to DW.
