A motorcyclist died in an accident that occurred on Monday morning on the ring road of Bucharest, a road that was blocked in both directions following the traffic incident.
A 20-year-old driver involved in the fatal accident fled the scene and was later apprehended by the police.
"At the scene, the traffic police from Măgurele intervened, and from the initial checks, it was found that a car, driven by a 20-year-old young man, traveling on DNCB, in the area of km 42, allegedly hit a motorcyclist, 43 years old, who was then propelled into another car traveling from the opposite direction, driven by a 37-year-old man. Following the traffic incident, the 20-year-old allegedly left the scene of the accident," stated the Ilfov Police.
Traffic was diverted through Jilava and Măgurele following the accident.
Two men, aged 43 and 37, were injured. Resuscitation maneuvers were performed on the motorcyclist, but with no success, while the second victim was transported to the hospital.
Both drivers were tested with breathalyzers and drug tests, with negative results in both cases.
The case was taken over by the traffic police officers from the Ilfov Road Police Service, who are conducting investigations to establish the facts and take the necessary legal measures.
