The 51-year-old teacher from „Sfântul Sava” College in Bucharest, detained for rape and sexual assault on his students, has been placed under judicial control for 60 days, with a prohibition to leave the country.
The decision is not final and was made by a magistrate from the Sector 3 Court, who rejected the prosecutors’ request for the preventive arrest of the teacher.
Sorin Spineanu Dobrotă, a teacher at one of the most prestigious high schools in Bucharest and head of the National Center for Policies and Evaluation in Education within the Ministry of Education, was detained on Thursday.
„Rejects as unfounded the proposal of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Sector 3 Court in Bucharest to take the preventive arrest measure against the defendant Spineanu Dobrotă Sorin Paul.
Orders the preventive measure of judicial control for the defendant Spineanu Dobrotă Sorin Paul, for a period of 60 days, starting from 07/25/2024 and until 09/22/2024, inclusive.
Imposes on the defendant the following obligations:
a) not to exceed the territorial limits of the country, except with the prior approval of the judge of rights and freedoms;
b) to periodically communicate relevant information about his means of living;
c) not to communicate with the victims, directly or indirectly.
The compliance with the measure of judicial control and the obligations imposed on the defendant will be supervised by Police Section 12. Orders the release of the detained defendant. With the right to appeal within 48 hours," the court decision cited by Agerpres states.
Sorin Spineanu Dobrotă is accused by prosecutors of raping a boy (17 years old) three years ago and sexually assaulting another teenager (16 years old).
The acts took place in the teacher's apartment, where he tutored students, including the two victims.
Judicial sources stated to ProTV that the 2 boys came from poor families, and the teacher lured them by offering various gifts. Everything came to light only now, most likely because the victims found it difficult to gather the courage to speak about what they went through.
According to the description in his most recent book, "Guide for Admission to LAW - economics and critical thinking," Sorin Spineanu-Dobrota "holds the didactic degree I, over 28 years of experience in education, is a member of the National Commission for socio-human disciplines, and also the president of the Central Commission of the national economics olympiad. A national trainer in the field of education sciences, he has published numerous school books - guides, collections, curricular aids."
Dobrotă has several collections of subjects and a book "Homosexuality, normal or pathological," published by Tritonic Publishing House in 2005. He has also made several appearances on Teleșcoala lessons on TVR 2.
Three cases in the last week
This new case comes just a few days after it was revealed that Kristoff Lajos, known as the "genius coach," was arrested after being caught red-handed raping a 14-year-old boy.
Also, recently, another case shocked public opinion. The Director of the Student House in Pitești was detained, after having sexual relations, for several months, with a 16-year-old girl, which is called rape, even if the girl consented.
