The long-distance conflict between Caroline Wozniacki and Simona Halep is brought back into the spotlight by the foreign press.
Journalists from Tennis Up To Date noted that Wozniacki has been the target of criticism after being eliminated in the Madrid tournament by Sara Errani.
They point out that the Dane has received several messages on social media reminding her that her form has been catastrophic since publicly criticizing Simona Halep.
There are dozens of messages against the Danish player, and some of those who posted on social media believe that karma is to blame.
"Since she made those comments about Halep, she hasn't won a match," was one of the messages posted on X.
At the same time, many platform users are urging Wozniacki to retire from tennis.
Since criticizing Simona Halep, Wozniacki has lost in the 2nd round in Miami and Charleston, retired in the Billie Jean King Cup, and exited in the 1st round in Madrid.
Caroline Wozniacki was the one who triggered this conflict, following a harsh statement made against Simona Halep.
"If you want to come back, and it was a mistake, I understand, but you should work to climb back up. It's clear that Simona's situation has dragged on for a long time. Her suspension was reduced. It wasn't forgiveness, but a reduction of the punishment. Now she hasn't played for a while and will return. Again, I only hope for clean sport. That's all I want. I want there to be good role models for the young generation. It's a sport with a lot of money, a lot of competitiveness, many competitors. I wish for a fair fight," said Caroline Wozniacki.
In response, Simona Halep sent Wozniacki to read the TAS decision.
"Why did she say that? Why did she say it? I haven't done anything wrong. I haven't doped, I haven't cheated. It's good to read the TAS decision. It was contamination, I have no connection to doping. I'm not a cheater! I thank the organizers for giving me a wild card. Just one person being negative towards me... It doesn't matter because I have hundreds of people who offer me love," said Simona Halep.
