The "exceptionally dense" cloud with Sahara dust will not reach Romania

A „exceptionally dense” cloud of dust from the Sahara is making its way through Europe. The warning came yesterday from the Copernicus Atmospheric Monitoring Service (CAMS) of the European Union.

However, the air circulation does not favor the penetration of this Saharan dust air mass over Romania, the National Meteorological Administration announced on Tuesday.

"During the period from April 9 at 17:00 to April 11 at 18:00, the air circulation above the European continent will not favor the penetration of an air mass loaded with Saharan dust particles over Romania," ANM stated.

According to meteorologists, there will be no precipitation during the mentioned period.

The dust cloud passed over much of Spain before reaching southeastern France, Germany, and the southeastern corner of UK. It brought colorful sunsets in many regions, leaving dust deposits on cars and windows.

But it also brought tiny "PM10" particles - small enough to be inhaled - exceeding the EU safety threshold in some regions.

This dust cloud is the third of its kind to reach Europe in recent weeks. However, it is the first classified as "exceptionally dense" by Copernicus.
