The woman is seen comfortably stretched out in the luggage storage space, as if in a bed.
The video cuts off as passengers can be heard laughing at the bizarre scene, as reported by New York Post.
It's not clear whether the woman was a regular passenger or a crew member, but her unusual behavior raised suspicions online. Some wondered how she managed to climb into the storage space.
"When someone is in my seat, but I don't want to disturb," someone joked.
"Southwest allows you to choose your own seat," another internet user wrote, referring to the seat reservation policy.
This incident is not unprecedented.
Last summer, a passenger was filmed waking up in the overhead compartment on a Ryanair flight, and in 2019, a Southwest Airlines flight attendant startled passengers after hiding in the trash bin.
