Ukraine has decided to impose sanctions against 11 politicians and activists from the Republic of Moldova, accused of destabilizing the country in the interest of Moscow, promoting pro-Russian narratives, and justifying Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, announced President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to newsmaker.md.
Among those listed is Victoria Furtună, the leader of the „Great Moldova” Party, who is participating in the parliamentary elections on September 28, after being registered in the race following the intervention of the Supreme Court of Justice.
Also on Ukraine's blacklist are MPs BCS Constantin Starîş and Bogdan Ţîrdea - both candidates on the list of the Patriotic Bloc of Socialists, Communists, Heart, and Future of Moldova for a new term.
Sanctions have also been imposed on MP Vasile Bolea, affiliated with the Şor group, as well as on Dmitri Konstantinov, the President of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia.
The list is completed by the Governor of Gagauzia, Evghenia Guţul, who was convicted in the case of illegal financing of the "Şor" party, which has since been declared unconstitutional.
Other names included on the sanctions list are: former SIS employee, activist Ion Mahu; APG MP Victor Petrov; leader of a veterans' organization, Iurie Ciofu, leader of the "Renaissance" party, Natalia Parasca, as well as pro-Russian analyst from the Transnistrian region, Igor Şornikov.
The measures include asset freezes, commercial and financial restrictions, as well as entry bans into Ukraine.
The sanctions are valid for a period of 10 years, and in some cases - indefinitely.
"Ukraine is helping Moldova and we are interested in the stability of our neighbor - in the success of Moldova," said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a message posted on social media.
