Two earthquakes in Romania: The strongest had a magnitude of 4

Two earthquakes occurred on Wednesday in Buzău County, one of them with a magnitude of 4.

The first earthquake, of medium intensity, with a magnitude of 4, occurred at 01:48:07, at a depth of 22 km, announced the National Institute for Research and Development in Physics of the Earth (INFP).

The earthquake occurred near the following cities: 25 km N of Buzau, 41 km SW of Focsani, 82 km W of Braila, 86 km NE of Ploiesti, 87 km W of Galati, 94 km N of Slobozia.

After a few hours, a mild earthquake was recorded in Buzău County.

"On October 9, 2024, at 05:56:03 (local time in Romania), a weak earthquake with a magnitude of 2.5 occurred in the seismic area of Vrancea Buzău, at a depth of 107.4 km," the INFP reports.

The earthquake occurred near the following cities: 48 km NW of Buzau, 50 km W of Focsani, 71 km SE of Sfantu-Gheorghe, 76 km E of Brasov, 79 km NE of Ploiesti.

During the day on Tuesday, earthquakes were recorded in Vaslui and Brasov.
