Simona Halep will return to official tennis competitions at the WTA 125 tournament in France at Trophee Clarins, where she received a wild card from the organizers.
After a two-year break, the 32-year-old Romanian will return to a clay competition, the last one being at Roland Garros 2022. She is preparing for her comeback eagerly, after not playing any matches since the end of March, when she debuted in Miami.
The Romanian received wild cards for Madrid and Oeiras, but chose to withdraw due to medical issues with her knee and shoulder.
The double Grand Slam champion arrived in Paris a few days ago, and on Saturday, she posted a video showing her preparations on clay, demonstrating her forehand training in a video clip. Simona tagged several people in her post, including the official tournament page, for which she wrote a "Thank you!".
The Romanian has started a collaboration with her new coach Carlos Martinez, a Spanish coach and former coach of Svetlana Kuznetsova. The WTA 125 Trophee Clarins tournament will take place next week, between May 13 and 19.
