The Romanian women’s handball national team is qualified for the main groups at the World Championship after the two victories at the beginning, against Japan and Croatia.
Before the clash with Denmark, we know for sure that we will advance to this final tournament, but we do not know if we will do so with 2 or 4 points. Romania – Denmark takes place on the National Day, on December 1, at 9:30 p.m., and the match will be LIVE on SpotMedia.ro.
Romania already knows who they will face in the main group, considering the matchups with Group B. We will play against Hungary, the great rival, Switzerland, and Senegal, and the match with the neighboring country to the west will be crucial for qualification to the quarterfinals. The top 2 from the next group will qualify for the top 8 at the World Championship held in Germany and the Netherlands.
However, there are two possible scenarios, and the difference lies in the schedule Romania will have next. If we defeat Denmark, we finish in 1st place, start with 4 points, and have the following schedule:
Romania – Senegal (December 3)
Switzerland – Romania (December 5)
Romania – Hungary (December 7)
But if we lose to Denmark, a very likely scenario, and finish the first group in 2nd place, we will start the next group with the decisive match, against Hungary:
Romania – Hungary (December 3)
Romania – Senegal (December 5)
Romania – Switzerland (December 7)
Romania can qualify for the quarterfinals with a maximum of victories in the main group. And by far the most dangerous opponent is Hungary, which on Saturday defeated Iran in handball with an incredible score of 47-13!
Senegal and Switzerland are considered weaker teams compared to Mihăilă's team, with Switzerland even being a debutant at a World Championship final tournament.
