Day 1295 of war began with a massive Russian aerial attack on Ukraine.
Over 400 drones and 43 missiles targeted 15 regions starting Tuesday night. The air defense shot down most of the targets, but hits were recorded in 17 locations on Ukrainian territory. In the Zhytomyr region, one person was killed and another injured.
Russia's attack also extended to Poland, where dozens of drones were shot down for the first time. American President Donald Trump did not respond to a journalist's question on this matter.
There was also an air alert in Romania, with two F-16 aircraft taking off to patrol the northern part of Tulcea County, on the border with Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the bomb attack in the village of Iarova, Donetsk region, located on the front line, has risen. Authorities announced today that there are at least 25 dead and 18 injured.
Heavy fighting continues on the front lines, with Russia having lost nearly 300,000 soldiers just this year, announced the supreme commander of the Ukrainian army, Oleksandr Syrskyi. Since the beginning of the war, Russia has lost over a million soldiers, with approximately 30% of the casualties recorded in the last nine months, according to Ukrainian military estimates.
Ukraine urgently needs 10 Patriot air defense systems, as well as a clear program for regular funding and delivery of weapon packages, announced Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Russia's Attacks
- 15 Regions Under Attack - Russia launched 415 drones of various types and 43 missiles starting Tuesday night. The air defense shot down 413 targets, but 16 missiles and 21 drones hit 17 locations on Ukrainian territory, announced the Ukrainian Air Forces. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, 15 regions were targeted. At least one person died. Zelensky announced on X that Wednesday morning "rescuers are operating in Volochysk, Khmelnytsky region, where the Russians hit a tailor shop with a missile." Three people were injured, he added.
- Casualties in Zhytomyr - One person was killed and another injured last night in an attack on the Zhytomyr region, announced Vitalii Buneciko, head of the regional military administration. "The enemy hit the Zhytomyr region using kamikaze drones and cruise missiles during a combined air attack. One person was killed and another injured in the attacks," he wrote on Telegram. Several businesses and civilian residences were damaged, and intervention teams are operating on-site, detailed the official cited by Ukrainska Pravda.
- Alert in Poland - The Polish army announced Wednesday morning that it shot down drones that violated its airspace during a Russian attack on Ukraine. This is the first time Poland shoots down Russian drones entering its airspace. Four airports have suspended operations for security reasons. Details HERE.
- Air Alert in Tulcea - An air alert was triggered last night in the northern part of Tulcea County after radar systems detected a group of drones in the area of the Ukrainian locality of Vâlcov, on the border with Romania. Two Romanian Air Force F-16 aircraft took off for reconnaissance missions. Details HERE.
- Toll Rises from Iarova Attack - At least 25 people were killed and 18 were injured in the bomb attack on the village of Iarova in the Donetsk region, located on the front line, according to the updated toll communicated today by local authorities. The attack took place on Tuesday around 11:00 a.m. while locals were queuing to receive pensions, according to officials. Among the victims were employees of Ukrposhta, Ukraine's national postal service, who were making payments. Two injured individuals were hospitalized, announced the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. "This is not a military operation - it is pure terrorism," said Governor Vadym Filashkin on Telegram, cited by Kyiv Independent.

- Russia's Immense Losses in 2025 - Russia has lost nearly 300,000 soldiers in 2025, announced Ukrainian army's supreme commander Oleksandr Syrskyi on Tuesday. "The losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the year have already reached nearly 300,000 (299,210) people," wrote Syrskyi on social media. Although Moscow does not publicly disclose casualty figures, Ukrainian officials say Russian losses are about three times higher than Ukraine's, reports The Kyiv Independent. According to Ukrainian military estimates, Russia has lost over a million soldiers since the beginning of the war, with approximately 30% of the victims recorded in the last nine months. British intelligence services largely support Kiev's estimates, estimating in August that Russia's soldier losses have exceeded one million.
