Romania is European leader in towed artillery. It has surpassed both NATO states and countries outside the organization

Romania ranks first in Europe in terms of towed artillery, with 720 combat-ready units. These resources, dating back to the Cold War era, are still essential to the country’s military doctrine.

Romania surpasses both NATO member states and countries outside the organization, including Ukraine, according to data analyzed by Profit.ro.

Romania is followed in the European ranking by Greece (698 units), Finland (667 units), Ukraine (615 units), Bosnia and Herzegovina (457 units), and Hungary (295 units).

However, Romania does not have any self-propelled artillery units, a situation only found in two countries in the Top 10.

Romanian land forces also have 10,774 military vehicles, 328 tanks, and 243 multiple rocket launch systems (MLRS). Besides the land forces, Romania has 140 military aircraft, including 21 fighter jets and 65 helicopters.

Romania obtained a score of 0.8984 in the global ranking of the largest military powers, placing the country 51st out of a total of 145 states, according to 24/7 Wall St based on data from Global Firepower.

The closer the index value is to 0, the stronger a nation's theoretical conventional combat capability.

The USA ranks first globally, with an index of only 0.0744, followed closely by Russia and China (both with an index of 0.0788).

India, South Korea, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Turkey, and Italy complete the Top 10 global military powers.
