Heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne has passed away at the age of 76, just a few weeks after reuniting on stage with his Black Sabbath bandmates for an emotional farewell concert.
The artist passed away „surrounded by love,” as his family conveyed in a statement quoted by Sky News.
"You have no idea what I'm feeling – thank you from the bottom of my heart," Osbourne told fans during the concert, where he took the stage seated on a throne alongside bands like Metallica and Guns N' Roses, in a show designed as a "final salute" to his fans.
Ozzy Osbourne revolutionized rock music with Black Sabbath and continued a successful solo career, releasing hits like Iron Man, Paranoid, War Pigs, Crazy Train, and Changes.
He also became known for the reality show aired on MTV in the 2000s, The Osbournes, which showcased his hectic life with his wife Sharon and children Kelly and Jack.
In recent years, Osbourne struggled with Parkinson's disease and other health issues, including complications following a fall in 2019.
He had to cancel tours but made surprise appearances, such as the one at the closing ceremony of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Throughout his career, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame and the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in the USA – twice, both with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, another one on Broad Street in Birmingham, five Grammy Awards, and distinctions like the Godlike Genius Award (NME) and Living Legend Award (Classic Rock).
