Simona Halep explains her presence at a small circuit tournament

Simona Halep explained the unexpected decision she recently made.

Our athlete will participate in one of the smallest tournaments for her in the last decade.

She has signed up for the WTA 125 competition in Oeiras (Portugal), which will take place between April 15 and 21.

Simona stated that she wants to have as many matches under her belt as possible, which is why she chose to play at a tournament well below her level.

"I am very excited to add a new tournament to my calendar. Upon returning to the WTA circuit, I intend to play as many matches as possible, and accepting this wild card gives me the opportunity to do so in front of the Portuguese audience. I want to thank the tournament for wanting me, and I can't wait to be there," said Simona Halep.
