Edi Iordănescu (45 years old), the coach of the Romanian national team, has announced the condition under which he accepts to extend his contract with the FRF, which expires after the European Championship.
Iordănescu clarified that it’s not about money, about exaggerated salary demands.
The coach stated that he wants to make sure he is supported by the Romanian Football Federation "regardless of the situation."
"The FRF must find the optimal solution. I was asked if I would like a challenge at a European club team. Who wouldn't want that? It's a normal step, but my priority remains the final tournament. I want to continue with the national team, alongside the beautiful group we have," he said.
"I don't control what will happen with my contract. Money was the last problem. I don't think an extra effort would be necessary. My priorities are different. I need to be sure I have the support of the federation, regardless of the situation," said Edi Iordănescu in a press conference, quoted by gsp.ro.
Before EURO 2024, the Romanian national team will play two friendly matches, against Bulgaria (June 4) and Liechtenstein (June 7).
