Fraud with simulated car accidents: Two police officers are part of the criminal group

Several individuals, including two police officers, are being investigated for staging car accidents to obtain insurance compensation. The investigation is taking place in Argeș County, Romania. The estimated value of the damage is over 100,000 lei (20.000 euros).

The suspects are being investigated for forming an organized criminal group, fraud, complicity in fraud, intellectual forgery, complicity in intellectual forgery, and forgery of private signature documents.

In total, 20 individuals were involved in the fraud scheme.

Two individuals, including a police officer, were questioned on Wednesday, and citations were issued for 3 others, bye the Prosecutor's Office near the Argeș Tribunal.

At the end of the questioning, the police officer was detained for 24 hours.

According to investigators, starting in 2022, five of the individuals under investigation, including two police officers, an insurance damage inspector collaborating with insurance companies, and two others, formed this criminal group with the purpose of staging road accidents to later claim compensation from insurance companies.

In this criminal case, on June 20, home searches, vehicle searches, asset and document seizures were carried out, and arrest warrants were executed, followed by digital searches.
