There is a national road in Galaţi, Romania, that has been closed since Saturday in the Tudor Vladimirescu – Vameș sector.
DN25 is covered with alluvium and traffic has not been able to resume even after 5 days, although road workers claim to be working non-stop.
The road connects the cities of Galați and Tecuci.
"For almost five days, since the first problems caused by floods appeared in Galați County, the road workers have been acting non-stop," writes on Facebook the Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges Buzău.
Interventions are taking place on both national and county roads to ensure water drainage and removal of alluvium, as well as in areas with large water accumulations for digging and widening breaches to allow for a faster water retreat.
Although work is being carried out intensively in the area, DN 25, between Tudor Vladimirescu and Vameș, remains closed to traffic due to the large amount of water accumulated on the road surface.
And it is unknown when the traffic will reopen, especially since other rains are announced in the area, which is under yellow alert until Thursday.
The final assessment will be made after the water retreats, and it may be necessary to impose a tonnage restriction until the issues are resolved.
