"I wouldn't make any predictions yet. And, probably, it cannot be said that we are so familiar with the worldview of this candidate regarding our country," Peskov added, commenting on the victory in the first round of the independent candidate Călin Georgescu, who advocates for normalizing relations with Moscow.
Peskov also said that Russia will monitor how the electoral process in Romania unfolds and who will be the winner of the presidential elections.
The rise of Călin Georgescu in the first round of Romania's presidential elections did not go unnoticed in the Russian press.
RIA Novosti reported that he supports an alliance with Russia, and TASS stated that Georgescu is cautious about Romania's NATO membership and has insisted "prudently" on normalizing relations with Russia.
