Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu took a stand on Tuesday regarding a post attributed to the ideologue of Vladimir Putin, Alexandr Dugin, which claims that Romania will be part of Russia.
„Romania #NO has no future alongside Russia! Opinions such as the one formulated on an account associated with an ideologue of Vladimir Putin, suggesting that Romania will be a part of Russia, should show us all why the Putinist regime is a threat to democracy.
Romanians have shown through their vote that they want to continue on the path of development with European funds, but - at the same time - they demand that political leaders act more decisively to defend traditional values, our national identity, and the faith of this nation.
"I have understood the message of the people and I will act accordingly, regardless of the area from which attacks against Romanians may come!", wrote Marcel Ciolacu on Facebook.
The unequivocal statement comes in the context where the PSD (Social Democratic Party) refused to declare its support for one of the candidates in the second round of the presidential elections on Sunday, among whom Călin Georgescu is a declared admirer of Vladimir Putin and stated that he met with Alexandr Dugin.
