According to an estimated calculation based on the doctor’s wealth statement, he has at his disposal 2 million euros, money held in bank accounts or borrowed, equivalent to the value of jewelry, land, a car, and an apartment.
Additionally, the net monthly salary is 50,000 lei, coming from the hospital and the medical university.
In determining this wealth, the incomes of the doctor’s wife, Monica Mihaela Cîrstoiu, and the incomes generated by Anemona Med and Anemona Clinical Services, companies controlled through proxies, were not taken into account.
"Every day I wake up at 5 am, including Saturdays and Sundays when I have surgeries. Patients cannot wait, the hospital never waits. A hospital, especially an emergency one, heals suffering immediately and ensures that the soul is well," wrote Cătălin Cîrstoiu, the PNL-PSD candidate, on his Facebook page.
The doctor promotes himself as a professional with empathy, who works hard and is concerned about the quality of life of those around him.
Incompatibility Issues
Entering the race late, he failed to capture the attention of the electorate, and in a recent AtlasIntel-Digi24 poll, published last week, he was in third place, after Nicușor Dan, the current mayor, and Popescu Piedone, the mayor of Sector 5, a controversial figure, tried and convicted for corruption in the Colectiv Club fire case, then released by a decision of the High Court of Cassation and Justice after only one year and one month.

"I don't think it's enough to be a doctor to lead a city. As a manager, I have positively changed a huge hospital with thousands of employees, and I can and know how to bring organization, rigor, order, and efficiency to the city hall," says the doctor Cătălin Cîrstoiu, trying to attract voters' attention through his achievements at the University Hospital in Bucharest.
Mr. Dan must leave because he doesn't know how to lead, doesn't know how to communicate, doesn't know what to do. He is a good NGO activist, but an incapable mayor to offer solutions, a mayor completely overwhelmed by the big and small problems of the city. He has never led teams, doesn't know how to organize. He is a good award-winning mathematician but a repeat student in management.
Cătălin Cîrstoiu, the PSD-PNL candidate for the Bucharest City Hall
A report from the Prime Minister of Romania's Control Body, conducted in 2020 and sent to the National Integrity Agency, mentions at least one case of incompatibility, when the doctor sent a patient from the hospital to his private clinic, as reported in an investigation published by "Hotnews."
ANI has not provided any response regarding this report, announcing that it will make a decision.
According to political sources, there are many tensions in Cătălin Cîrstoiu's campaign team, and Gabriela Firea, from the PSD, and Sebastian Burduja, from the PNL, designated campaign managers, are not enthusiastic about their roles.
