King of Spain, Felipe VI, will make an official visit to Romania next week.
The Spanish sovereign will arrive in the evening of June 9, according to sources cited by TVR Info. On June 10, the king will visit Cincu, the place where Spanish military personnel involved in NATO missions for ensuring security on the eastern flank are stationed.
Felipe was proclaimed king in June 2014 and holds the highest military rank, exclusively corresponding to that of the supreme commander of the Armed Forces.
This will be the first official visit of a high-ranking dignitary received by the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, since taking office.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia were previously in Romania in 2009, then as Prince and Princess of Asturias. Former Spanish monarchs, King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia, visited Romania in 1978 and 2003.
The visit takes place in a context of strong bilateral cooperation between Romania and Spain, including in the field of military collaboration within NATO.
