A Russian soldier killed his wounded comrade in battle. He shot him in the head and continued on his way

A drone captured the moment a Russian soldier kills his injured comrade, a new episode that attests to the prevailing „barbaric culture” in the Russian army.

Footage filmed by a drone shows a Russian soldier killing his wounded comrade while retreating from Robotîne, in the Zaporizhia region.

The victim was injured by a Ukrainian drone and fell to the ground. Instead of assessing the injured soldier's condition and providing first aid or extracting him from the area, a comrade coming from behind immediately points the gun barrel at him and shoots him in the head. Then he leaves without even taking the identification elements of the one he killed.

The footage was posted on Telegram on Saturday, reports Business Insider, specifying that it could not verify the images independently.

"An attempt to kill or the deliberate killing of a comrade soldier is unprofessional," note military analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in a report recently published.

According to ISW experts, this is yet another episode that arrests the deliberate killing of Russian soldiers by their comrades in arms. Sometimes, the victims are even commanders. In 2022, a Russian tank ran over a commander after a series of defeats on the front.

Such cases generally indicate very poor discipline among Russian troops, a disconnect between commanders and subordinates, as well as a blatant disregard for human life, noted military analysts. However, the situation has deeper causes.

ISW mentions that there have been many cases showing "total contempt for the lives of Russia's soldiers throughout the war, both in Russia and among Russian troops on the battlefield."

From frontal attacks with human waves resulting in many casualties, characterized as "cannon fodder attacks," to war crimes and beating a deserter to death with a bar, there have been numerous incidents of this kind.

Last October, the United States condemned as "barbaric" the treatment to which Russia subjects its own armed forces, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated, affirming that Russia continues to disregard the lives of its soldiers.
