Citizens from Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Slobozia, Iași, Deva, Sibiu, Timișoara, and Ilfov county will be able to obtain, upon request, digital as well as physical birth and death certificates.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, starting Wednesday, people from these cities will also be able to obtain both types of documents in digital form upon request.
Thus, the registration of life events, such as birth and death, carried out by the civil status officer, will be done in digital format.
"In April, the implementation of the "Integrated Information System for Issuing Civil Status Documents - SIIEASC" was initiated at the level of all administrative-territorial units of Ilfov county, through the digital registration of deaths and births, and considering the results obtained, on Wednesday, the General Directorate for Persons Records, with the support of the County Directorates for Persons Records in the counties of Cluj, Constanța, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Iași, Sibiu, and Timiș, operationalized the SIIEASC in the 7 county seat municipalities.
A new stage regarding the extension of SIIEASC is expected to take place on May 10, 2024, by including certain administrative-territorial units from the counties of Cluj, Constanța, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Iași, Sibiu, and Timiș," the Ministry conveys in a press release.
The national implementation of the Information System will be phased, with completion expected in September 2024.
