FCSB received excellent news on Friday evening, after CFR Cluj suffered a heavy defeat in their away match against Farul Constanța, with a score of 5-1.
And the result contributes to the scenario in which FCSB could become the champion even this weekend. Now, two more results need to happen for Olaru and his teammates to trigger the celebration.
Firstly, FCSB must win on Saturday evening at the National Arena against Rapid, a LIVE match on SpotMedia.ro starting at 8:30 PM. Then, if this also happens, on Sunday, Sepsi must hold CSU Craiova to a draw at 7:00 PM.
With these results secured, FCSB would reach 47 points, while Craiova and Farul would have 15 points less. A gap that cannot be closed anymore, considering that in case of a tie in points, the Bucharest team did not benefit from rounding up, thus becoming mathematically the champion 5 rounds before the end.
FCSB has been waiting for this title for 9 years, since 2015 to be exact. The title won by FCSB on Sunday would be a first in the last decade, as SuperLiga winners have been crowned no earlier than after the 8th round.
