David Popovici has qualified for the final of the 200-meter freestyle event at the World Swimming Championships in Singapore.
Our athlete won the semifinal he participated in with a time of 1:45.02. However, it was not the best time in both semifinals. The Romanian had the fourth-best time with which he qualified for the final.
American Luke Hobson (1:44.80), South Korean Sunwoo Hwang (1:44.84), and Pole Kamil Sieradzki (1:45.00) performed better than David Popovici.
The final is scheduled for Tuesday at 2:02 PM.
Our athlete is an Olympic, world, and European champion in the 200-meter freestyle.
David Popovici will also compete in the 100-meter freestyle (heats and semifinals are on Wednesday) and the 50-meter freestyle (heats and semifinals are on Friday).
The 100-meter final will take place on Thursday, and the 50-meter final on Saturday.
