Călin Georgescu’s communication team has launched an online plea for help to the US after the pro-Russian candidate was taken into police custody and brought to the General Prosecutor’s Office for questioning.

Approximately 30 minutes ago, he was stopped in traffic and taken into custody for questioning at the General Prosecutor's Office!
Where is democracy, where are the partners who should defend democracy?" a message posted on Călin Georgescu's page and signed "Communication Team" reads.
Here we have some misinformation, because Georgescu was not going to submit his candidacy for the presidential elections today.
There is no such event announced by the Electoral Office or previously announced by his campaign team.
Supported by Americans?
Călin Georgescu has been the subject of speculation and controversy regarding an alleged support from the United States of America. Information in the press suggested that the American administration pressured Romania not to ban his candidacy. For example, Bloomberg reported that officials from the Trump administration intervened in this regard.
However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Romania's Ambassador to the US, Andrei Muraru, stated that there is no official support from the Americans for Călin Georgescu.
In contrast, there have been statements from some American politicians and influencers who have expressed appreciation for Călin Georgescu. For example, Elon Musk directly praised his candidacy, and Vice President JD Vance has repeatedly criticized the cancellation of the second round of the presidential elections.
Money hidden by Potra under the floor
Călin Georgescu was taken into police custody and brought in for questioning on the same day as searches targeting actions against constitutional order, public incitement, setting up an organization with a fascist character, false statements regarding campaign funding sources were conducted.
Prosecutors issued a summons, and Georgescu was stopped in traffic and taken to the General Prosecutor's Office, where he entered smiling, on crutches, flanked by gendarmes.
The former candidate was to be questioned as a suspect and is accused of involvement in an organization with a fascist character and promoting in the public space controversial ideologies and historical figures such as Marshal Antonescu.
Also today, Călin Georgescu definitively lost the case regarding the resumption of elections at the High Court
