The 2025 Grammy Awards: Beyoncé won the award for the best country album

The 2025 Grammy Awards were presented in Los Angeles, with Beyoncé receiving the most important award of the night for the first time – Album of the Year, and Kendrick Lamar winning all categories he was nominated for, including Song and Record of the Year.

Beyoncé, nominated 11 times at the 67th edition of the gala, won trophies for Album of the Year and Best Country Album with „Cowboy Carter.”

Beyoncé’s album „Cowboy Carter” won the award for Best Country Album, presented to the artist by Taylor Swift. Beyoncé is the first artist of color to win in this category in 50 years.

Kendrick Lamar received several Grammy awards for „Not Like Us” during the awards ceremony, including Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. He also extended his record as the most awarded rapper in the Best Rap Performance category to seven victories.

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars won a Grammy for Best Pop/Duo Group Performance with „Die With a Smile.”

Shakira won the award for Best Latin Pop Album with „Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.”

The Album of the Year award was presented by members of the Los Angeles Fire Department as a recognition of their efforts to control the fires that devastated the city.

Trevor Noah returned as the host of the Grammy Awards for the fifth time and opened the show with a tribute to the city of Los Angeles after the fires. The former host of „The Daily Show” focused on firefighting efforts and the city’s resilience, saying, „Despite all the devastation, the spirit of the city has emerged.” Noah began his monologue by poking fun at celebrities in the audience, as well as some from the Trump administration.

Will Smith returned to a major televised awards ceremony for the first time since the incident with Chris Rock at the Oscars and paid tribute to the late Quincy Jones. Smith opened the segment by introducing Herbie Hancock on the piano, and later brought out „Wicked” star Cynthia Erivo, who sang „Fly Me to the Moon.”

Most of this year’s awards were presented during a pre-show ceremony. The show hosted by Justin Tranter started with „Bridge Over Troubled Water,” featuring Yolanda Adams, Wayne Brady, Scott Hoying, Deborah Cox, Angélique Kidjo, and Taj Mahal.
