The Ministry of Finance wants to borrow nearly 6.5 billion lei from banks this month. What will it do with the money

The Ministry of Finance (MF) has planned, in November 2024, loans from commercial banks amounting to 5.7 billion lei, to which the sum of 795 million lei can be added through additional sessions of non-competitive offers related to bond auctions.

The total amount, 6.495 billion lei, is 95 million lei higher than the one scheduled in October 2024, of 6.405 billion lei, and will be used for refinancing public debt and financing the state budget deficit.

According to the prospectus published in the Official Gazette, an auction will be held on November 7 for a treasury bill issuance with a discount, in the amount of 400 million lei, maturing on October 27, 2025.
