Simona Halep (33 years old) defeated Arina Rodionova (34 years old, 114 WTA) in the first round of the tournament in Hong Kong and will play in the next round against Anna Blinkova (26 years old, 78 WTA).
The tournament organizers announced on Wednesday the order of play for the quarterfinal matches. Anna Blinkova, who defeated Peangtarn Plipuech (Philippines, 31 years old, 466 WTA), is Simona Halep’s next opponent in Hong Kong.
According to the organizers' announcement, the match between Simona Halep and Anna Blinkova will take place on Thursday, October 3, not before 11:30 AM, Romanian time. The match is scheduled second on the center court, following the match between Gabriela Ruse and Ajla Tomljanovic.
Simona Halep won her first official match played since May. She defeated Arina Rodionova, with a score of 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, in the first round of the Hong Kong tournament, a competition in which she gained access to the main draw through a wildcard entry.
