Edi Iordănescu has conducted the final negotiations with the Romanian Football Federation and has already given an answer: "He may want a sabbatical year"

National team coach Edi Iordanescu has ended his contract with the Romanian national team and is now expected to sit down at the negotiation table with the FRF to extend it.

The son of legendary coach Anghel Iordanescu seems to have already held final negotiations with Razvan Burleanu, the president of the FRF, and he is expected to announce whether he will remain as the coach of the Romanian national team.

Andrei Vochin, advisor to the president of the FRF, revealed that Iordanescu is set to officially announce whether he will stay or not at the helm of our national team. However, Vochin also mentions that there is a possibility for Edi to take a year off from coaching.

"The decision is Edi Iordanescu's. They had another discussion this week. The president is in the final tonight, and upon return, he expects a firm answer from Edi. I suspect this week."

July goes by quickly. Matches need to be monitored. They met at the Federation. They discussed directly, and Edi Iordanescu told Razvan Burleanu that he will give him an answer next week. Probably on Tuesday or Wednesday we will know the answer. It's each one's career, everyone negotiates it as they see fit. The president wanted an announcement before the final tournament, then we entered the final tournament... I don't know if it's just about money... If it was about money, he would have gone to Wahda. There are more things: a 4-year contract, some intermediate clauses, although he saw that the intermediate clause with the Nations League was not accessed by the Federation."

The president agreed to four years, with the respective milestones. I think Edi Iordanescu doesn't know... I think it's possible he wants a sabbatical year. He consumes himself a lot," pointed out Andrei Vochin for Fanatik.

Iordanescu was recently offered by Al-Wahda from the Arab world, but the coach rejected the proposal coming from the team in the United Arab Emirates.

With Edi on the bench, Romania reached the round of 16 at EURO 2024, with our team being eliminated by the Netherlands, with a score of 0-3.
