David Popovici had another exceptional performance in Romania’s 4×100 meters relay at the European Swimming Championships.
In the two pool lengths, he clocked an excellent time: 46.66 seconds.
It is the fastest time in history at this distance, but the world record will not be ratified because Popovici did not swim in the first leg of the relay.
According to FINA rules, only times achieved by athletes in the first leg of a relay can be considered for ratifying a world record.
Nevertheless, David's result shows that our athlete is in good shape and ready to bring us more medals.
Romania secured qualification for the final of the 4x100 meters freestyle event at the European Championships with the third-best time.
David Popovici entered the final leg when Romania was in 6th place, and his performance propelled us to third place. The final will take place on Thursday at 8:45 PM.
