Heavy rain, storms and sudden cooling to hit most of the country; orange weather alert in five counties

The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has issued several severe weather warnings, valid from Saturday until Sunday evening, covering almost the entire country.

Meteorologists announce torrential rains, storms, hail, and a significant cooling of the weather, while hydrologists also warn of the risk of floods on rivers in 18 counties.

According to ANM, the weather will become unstable starting from the second part of Saturday in the south, west, northwest, and center of the country, as well as in the mountains. On Sunday, severe phenomena will move mainly to the southeast and west. There will be torrential showers, thunderstorms, and isolated hail. Rainfall amounts can reach 20-50 mm, and the wind will intensify with gusts of 40-60 km/h.

Meteorologists warn that on Sunday the weather will significantly cool down, especially in the south and southwest of the country, where temperatures will drop below normal values for this period.

### Code orange for heavy rain in five counties

The most severe warning is an orange code valid from Saturday, 14:00, until Sunday, 10:00, for the counties of Vâlcea, Argeș, and Dâmbovița, as well as for the mountainous areas of Gorj and Prahova.

In these regions, significant rainfall is expected, with accumulations of 40-60 mm in short intervals or through accumulation. Isolated areas may exceed 70 mm of rainfall.

### Yellow code for storms and hail in several regions

Also from Saturday, starting at 12:00, until Sunday at 10:00, a yellow code is in effect for southern Crișana, Banat, Oltenia, most of Muntenia, and southwest Transylvania.

These areas are forecasted to experience periods of significant atmospheric instability, with torrential rains, thunderstorms, and hail. Rainfall amounts will generally reach 25-40 mm.

Temporary wind intensifications with gusts of 50-70 km/h are expected, and isolated storms are possible.

### Bucharest under warning for rain and storms

ANM has issued warnings for Bucharest and the counties of Ilfov, Constanța, Ialomița, and Călărași, where a yellow code will be in place on Sunday, between 10:00 and 21:00.

In the capital, the weather will become unstable starting Saturday afternoon. Torrential rains, thunderstorms, wind intensifications, hail, and storms are expected. Temperatures will drop significantly on Sunday, with maximum temperatures not exceeding 15-17 degrees, after forecasted highs of 25-26 degrees on Saturday.

### Yellow code for river floods in 18 counties

In parallel, hydrologists have issued a yellow code for river floods valid from Saturday, 14:00, until Sunday, 16:00, for rivers in 18 counties.

Rivers in the hydrographic basins of Crișul Alb, Mureș, Timiș, Bârzava, Caraș, Nera, Cerna, Jiu, Olt, Argeș, Ialomița, and Prahova are targeted.

Specialists warn that significant runoff on slopes, torrents, and streams, rapid floods on small rivers, and exceeding alert levels, with possible local floods, may occur.
