Dragos Anastasiu stated, regarding the reason why he accepted the position in the Government, that he has never committed tax evasion, never paid under the table, and never took advantage of the Romanian state. And as long as it was about choosing between ensuring the company’s survival, the people, and making this compromise, he chose the compromise, he explained.
Dragoş Anastasiu was asked why he agreed to join Bolojan’s government knowing that for eight years he bribed an ANAF official.
“I will tell you how I made the decision to enter the Government. First and foremost, I asked myself if I could help in any way, if I had the necessary capabilities, and I answered that I might have them,” he replied.
Anastasiu continued: “I asked myself if everything I have done so far in life makes me proud or if there are things I am not proud of, and I concluded that there are many things I have done and can be proud of.
I asked myself if I am an honest and honest person, and I said that I have never committed tax evasion, never paid under the table, never took advantage of the Romanian state, and I asked myself if there is any issue that I would consider questionable (...) and I told myself that as long as it was about choosing between ensuring the company's survival, the people, those who were abroad, etc., and making this compromise, I chose this compromise."
The resigning Vice Premier then explained where he believes he went wrong: “I made a mistake in losing him from my radar for a period of time. When I understood exactly what it was about, I spoke up and considered that this complexity was acceptable in order to try to do something for my country.”
Vice Premier Dragoș Anastasiu announced his resignation on Sunday, at a press conference at Victoria Palace.
Anastasiu also said that there is "survival bribe" and "enrichment bribe" and explained that he took a few days to think before going public, to have the answers and to reflect on the best decision he should make, in order not to jeopardize either the Government or his own person.
