In a statement sent to SpotMedia.ro, Sector 6 Municipality emphasizes that it concerns a privately owned property where works not related to Sector 6 Municipality have been carried out:
"Regarding the incident that occurred this morning, around 7:30, we provide clarifications. We refute the information that the collapse took place in the courtyard of an educational institution.
The incident occurred on the access road, from Regiei 2 Street, which is private property owned by a company. Before '89, a cigarette factory operated here.
The land collapsed above a utilities pipe, where works have been carried out over time. Due to the combined weight of the parked car and the waste management truck belonging to a sanitation company, stopped to collect garbage.
Sector 6 Municipality does not have and did not have any works in the area. The utility networks are managed by the Bucharest Municipality".
Subsequently, the Police also commented: "The location of the incident that occurred this morning in Sector 6 represents the access road to the building where an educational unit operates.
According to the institution, the entire area is the property of a private company, which belongs to a former tobacco factory.
