Călin Georgescu, taken by the police and brought to the Prosecutor's Office

Călin Georgescu was picked up by the police and taken in for questioning on the same day as searches were conducted targeting actions against constitutional order, public incitement, initiation of an organization with a fascist character, false statements regarding the sources of electoral campaign funding.

Prosecutors issued a warrant for his arrest, and Georgescu was stopped in traffic and brought to the General Prosecutor’s Office, where he entered smiling, on crutches, flanked by gendarmes.

Judicial sources told News.ro that the former candidate was to be questioned as a suspect.

G4Media learned that Georgescu is accused of involvement in an organization with a fascist character and promoting in the public space controversial ideologies and historical figures such as Marshal Antonescu.

1.5 million dollars hidden at Potra's

47 searches were carried out in the morning in Sibiu, Mureş, Timiş, Ilfov, and Cluj, at Horaţiu Potra and his mercenaries. 27 individuals and four company headquarters are targeted in the most extensive law enforcement operation related to the financing of Călin Georgescu's electoral campaign.

During the searches, prosecutors allegedly found weapons, assault ammunition, and a large amount of money, according to judicial sources cited by G4Media and Antena3.

Over 1.5 million dollars were found during the searches conducted on Wednesday at Horațiu Potra's residences and those of his mercenaries. In a house in Luduș, a safe with approximately 600,000 lei was hidden in the floor. The safe, encased in concrete, was camouflaged in the floor.

ZERO funding for the candidate

It is worth mentioning that Georgescu stated that he spent 0 lei on the presidential campaign, but various press investigations and declassified CSAT documents reveal that the actual amounts invested amount to millions of euros.

According to information obtained by prosecutors, there are clear links between the funding of Georgescu's campaign and Russia.

Officially, prosecutors announce that the investigation targets actions against constitutional order, non-compliance with the regime of arms and ammunition, public incitement, initiation or establishment of an organization with a fascist, racist, or xenophobic character, initiation or establishment of an organization with an anti-Semitic character, as well as joining or supporting, in any form, such an organization, and false statements regarding the sources of electoral campaign funding, dissemination of false information.

Also today, Călin Georgescu definitively lost the case regarding the resumption of elections at the High Court.
