A foreign man attempted to set fire to the Israeli Embassy in Bucharest. He set fire to the access door, threatening to self-immolate.
Sources close to the investigation state that the man is a syrian citizen and had issues related to obtaining a visa.
The same sources specify that the man did not declare himself as pro-Palestinian.
"Today, June 3, 2024, police officers from the General Police Directorate of Bucharest Municipality - Section 14 were notified by the Romanian Intelligence Service that a man attempted self-immolation," announced the Capital Police.
Police officers arrived at the scene and identified a 34-year-old foreign citizen.
Prior to the arrival of the police, he was immobilized by the Anti-Terror Brigade of the Romanian Intelligence Service.
Additionally, personnel from the Romanian Intelligence Service, who were ensuring the institution's security, extinguished the fire. A poster on the door was destroyed, but no other material or other damages were recorded.
