Another drone was spotted near the Mihail Kogălniceanu Airport in Constanţa County, and the military personnel stated that it was most likely of commercial nature, moving at low speeds and low altitudes.
Similar drones were seen a few days ago, also near the airport in Constanţa County, Romania.
Representatives of the Romanian Air Forces announced that on Wednesday, between 20:54 - 21:51, the personnel on duty at the 57th Air Base "Mihail Kogălniceanu" reported the presence in the air, in an area approximately 4-5 kilometers N-NW of the airport's control tower, of an unmanned aerial system, most likely of commercial nature, moving at low speeds and low altitudes.
"According to procedures, all safety measures in the airspace were taken, and the civilian air traffic authorities were promptly informed about this situation. The situation did not require the application of electronic warfare countermeasures," stated the military personnel.
The Command of the 57th Air Base "Mihail Kogălniceanu" notified the Military Prosecutor's Office to apply the measures provided by law. Additionally, a commission to investigate the incident was appointed within the military unit, led by the chief of staff of the 57th Air Base.
The Romanian Air Forces remind that operating any type of aircraft, including unmanned ones, in reserved, segregated airspace or restricted areas can only be done with authorization from the air traffic control unit in that area.
Failure to comply with these rules constitutes a violation punishable by a fine ranging from 5,000 to 9,000 lei.
