The athlete nicknamed „The Russian Tank” was banned from Otopeni Airport and was forced to leave the country.
Russian Olympic wrestling champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev attempted to come to Romania to attend the European Championship in Bucharest, but was banned at the airport.
Dubbed "The Russian Tank," Sadulaev participated two years ago in the pro-war rally organized by Vladimir Putin. Authorities in our country banned him from entry due to visa issues, to Sadulaev's dissatisfaction.
"Unfortunately, this edition of the European Championships will take place without me. I was ready, but at the border, I was not allowed to enter Romania. They didn't like my visa! I don't understand how this works.
In Spain, where I departed for Bucharest, I never had a problem, there were no questions asked. Everything is done at the whim of those in charge," Sadulaev said, according to Gsp.ro.
A reaction also came from Mikhail Mamiashvili, president of the Russian Wrestling Federation. "He flew from Barcelona to Bucharest, but in Romania, customs officials did not allow him to enter the country. They had doubts about his person and refused him entry into the country. It is hard to imagine what the reason could be," was Mikhail Mamiashvili's reaction.
