Louis Munteanu (23 years old) is expected to leave CFR Cluj in 2026, when the first transfer window of the year opens.
The Romanian forward was on the list of several important clubs in Europe this summer, but the price was the main obstacle to a transfer.
CFR Cluj significantly reduced Munteanu's price, and the Scots see this as "encouraging news" for Celtic, who are in search of a forward.
"Celtic have received encouraging news regarding Louis Munteanu ahead of the January transfer window," write the Scots.
Celtic, one of the most successful clubs in Europe, wanted Louis Munteanu even in the summer, making an offer that CFR Cluj turned down.
Munteanu has scored only three goals in the current season at CFR Cluj.
