EURO 2024: Hungary wins in the last second against Scotland and still hopes for the knockout stage

Hungary wins in the last second against Scotland in the final match of Group A at EURO 2024, with a score of 1-0, in the 90th minute plus 10, our neighbors still holding hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage.

The only goal of the match was scored by Kevin Csoboth from Ujpest, following a devastating counterattack, with Adam Szallai delivering a superb deep pass to the 24-year-old young forward.

Scotland - Hungary seemed to be a match with all the elements of a high-stakes encounter, as both teams were facing their last chance for a hypothetical advancement to the knockout stage. Played in Stuttgart, in a magnificent atmosphere, the game rather disappointed, being populated with more tough tackles, bordering on regulation limits, than goal opportunities.

After 70 minutes, Scotland dominated possession with 61%, while Hungary had only 39%. There were moments of panic around the 73rd minute, when Barnabas Varga was severely injured by Scottish goalkeeper Gunn, who came out of the goal recklessly with his foot very high. The Hungarian players formed a shield around their teammate, who left the field after extensive medical intervention.

However, the Hungarian efforts saw success practically in the last second, as due to the aforementioned incident, Argentine referee Tello awarded 10 minutes of stoppage time. In a textbook numerical advantage counterattack, Hungary caught the Scots off guard, with a superb pass from Szallai to Csoboth, who scored a goal that gives Hungary hope.
