6 out of 10 Romanian students agree with drug testing in schools

More than half (60.2%) of the over 20,000 students who responded to the questionnaire on drugs, conducted by the Bucharest Prefecture, agree with drug testing in schools, and 50% with periodic blood tests to detect psychoactive substances.

77.2% of the students who answered the questionnaire believe that the introduction of anti-drug courses in the school curriculum would be very beneficial for young people, the Bucharest Prefecture said in a statement.

Moreover, 61% of the respondents believe that people who consume prohibited substances are more likely troubled individuals, not criminals.

A few months ago, the Bucharest Prefecture initiated a public debate on the introduction of measures to prevent the consumption of prohibited substances and drugs among young people and students in Bucharest schools.

In this regard, the Bucharest prefect, Rareş Hopincă, announced an extensive survey in Bucharest, to which over 20,000 students responded.
