A truck fell into the Danube after breaking the safety barrier

A truck broke through the protective barrier of the Bahna viaduct, in Mehedinți County, Romania, and sank into the Danube.

Firefighters managed to recover the driver’s body, only after about 7 hours of searching.

"The truck fell into the Danube at midnight, and on Tuesday morning, divers managed to recover the victim, a 40-42-year-old Romanian man. Searches were conducted with divers from Mehedinți County, and we also requested assistance from colleagues in Caraș-Severin," said representatives of ISU Mehedinți.

According to the police, the truck was registered in Arad County and was loaded with goods when it hit the protective barrier of the Bahna viaduct and fell into the Danube.

Immediately after the truck fell into the water, teams from the Fire Departments of Drobeta Turnu Severin and Orșova, the Border Police with a boat, a medical team, and the police, as well as divers, were mobilized at the scene.
