Austerity at the Government: Bolojan has banned foreign trips without his approval

Ministries must reduce foreign trips and the number of people participating in them. Furthermore, trips must be approved by the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, and requests must be made at least five days in advance.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has requested ministries and institutions under their subordination and coordination to reduce foreign trips for the most efficient use of public funds, as stated in a Government press release sent to Spotmedia.ro.

Through the memorandum signed by the Prime Minister and sent to ministries, a careful analysis of the foreign trips to be undertaken by personnel from these structures and subordinate or coordinated institutions is requested.

The Executive specifies that these trips must be strictly necessary to fulfill institutional duties, achieve the goals outlined in the government program, and promote and defend Romania's interests.

Additionally, their duration and the number of people in the delegations will be strictly limited to the minimum necessary to achieve the visit's objectives.

The relevant ministries are obligated to submit a memorandum for approval to the Prime Minister and the Government's General Secretariat, at least 5 days before the trip's start date.
