Workers working on curbs broke the gas pipe in the city center of Alexandria, Romania.
The local press reported that the workers broke a gas pipe at a busy intersection in Alexandria.
According to Teleorman News, the pipe was broken on two consecutive days.
"The damage recorded yesterday, which I referred to in the press release sent on June 17, was remedied on the same day at 3:00 PM.
Meanwhile, as the municipality of Alexandria is carrying out street rehabilitation works on Colfescu Alexandru Street, today, around 1:00 PM, a new aggression occurred at another connection point, and at this moment, the Distrigaz Sud Reţele teams are working to repair the damage," announced Distrigaz for the cited local source.
The police have opened a criminal case for negligent destruction.
"Considering the images that have appeared in the public space regarding a possible destruction of the gas distribution network in the city of Alexandria, the Information and Public Relations Department within the Teleorman County Police Inspectorate is authorized to communicate the following:
On June 19, the police officers from the Alexandria City Police were officially informed and opened a criminal case for investigation under the aspect of the offense of negligent destruction," informed the Teleorman County Police Inspectorate.
The investigations are ongoing under the coordination of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Alexandria Court.
