Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu says that Emil Constantinescu could have made history, the best prime minister was Adrian Năstase, and his children do not want to be seen with him in public.
The prime minister-candidate answered a few quick questions in a podcast produced by HotNews.
Ciolacu said he doesn't have any cash on him, goes to church quite often, and wears a suit worth 2,000 lei (400 euros). He buys his own clothes, but works with Adina Buzatu and tells her what he wants.
If Adrian Năstase is unequivocally the best prime minister in his view, about presidents he says he would have something to comment on each, but "Emil Constantinescu could have made history."
Asked at what level he considers himself after English lessons, Ciolacu replied: On a scale from 1 to 10, around 4.
Regarding the controversy related to the high school diploma, Ciolacu stated: "I don't know how the Baccalaureate is done now, I haven't gone into details, but I'm not ashamed of my grade (7.03)."
On a more personal note, Ciolacu says he has never worn a wedding ring (only his wife wears one), even though he has been married for over 30 years. He also claims to have a modest family:
"My wife has no security. My son does not benefit from Romanian state services."
He also recounted an incident from yesterday that "didn't sit well with him":
"Yesterday, I visited him and my daughter, now that she's married.
What are you doing? We're going to the park with the dog. And I said, 'I'll come too.' He looked at me for a moment, 'Hey, old man, I'll tell you, but don't get upset.' Go ahead, my son. 'I wouldn't want to go to the park with you, with the dog, because people are mean. People don't know who I am. Just like the professors at the university didn't know. But will you get upset?'
Son, of course, when you first told me you wouldn't go with me, I got upset. I think it's right how you think. And she intervened and said, 'We're doing it because people are really mean. That way no one knows, we walk around, we made connections there with other breeders, who have a Labrador each.'
He added that he doesn't post photos with his family.
"This is my life. Don't think I liked it. My wife didn't want to appear, I don't post with my family. I have never posted since I became a public figure," explained the PM.
He even refused to attend a friend's anniversary.
"I have very good friends, for decades, in Buzău, whom I see very rarely. Yesterday was the birthday of a friend of mine and I said 'I'm not coming. I'll ruin your party and everything will be about how long Ciolacu stayed, what kind of wine Ciolacu drank, what Ciolacu ate.' In any public space, at this moment, I am harming my friends, my acquaintances."
