Crin Antonescu is expected to be the only representative of the coalition to be tested in a survey commissioned by the PSD, according to political sources.
The sociological research will analyze political trends. Within it, the support enjoyed by several individuals who have announced their intention to run in the presidential elections will be analyzed, such as Călin Georgescu, Elena Lasconi, or Nicușor Dan, but Crin Antonescu will be the only candidate tested on behalf of the coalition parties.
"Only one person from the coalition will be tested," the sources said.
It is also possible that the validation of Crin Antonescu's candidacy will take place at a joint event of the three parties that are part of the coalition (PSD, PNL, and UDMR).
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu stated on Friday that the legislation necessary for organizing the presidential elections will be adopted next week by the Government.
The governing coalition that met on Wednesday at Victoria Palace decided that the first round of voting will be held on May 4 and the second round on May 18.
Crin Antonescu remains the coalition's candidate for the presidential elections, the coalition further decided.
On Saturday, Crin Antonescu announced that he is "suspending" his candidacy for the presidential elections and accused the PSD, PNL, and UDMR of leaving him alone in the campaign.
