Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced that he is willing to testify at the Constitutional Court of Romania for George Simion.
„I am ready to come and testify if that helps Romanian democracy,” wrote Pavel Duran on platform X.
He reposted George Simion's post announcing the official request to the Constitutional Court to annul the presidential elections in Romania from May 2025.
"For the same reasons the elections in December were annulled: external interference from state and non-state actors. This time proven! Neither France, nor the Republic of Moldova, nor anyone else has the right to interfere in another state's elections," Simion wrote on platform X.
The Telegram founder's statement comes after George Simion requested, on Tuesday evening, that the elections not be validated until Pavel Durov is heard.
Simion claims there is evidence of interference from the French state, citing a testimony from the Telegram founder, who stated that the French government intervened to censor opposition voices.
"International observers have seen the interference not only from the Republic of Moldova but also from the French state. Social networks were manipulated and algorithms were used to influence Romanian citizens.
The testimony of the Telegram creator stating that the French government intervened to censor our voices during this period is revealing and calls for the Telegram creator to be heard before these elections are declared valid," said Simion.
Telegram messaging app founder Pavel Durov accused the head of the French external intelligence agency, Nicolas Lerner, that he asked him to ban conservative voices in Romania before Sunday's elections, adding that he refused the request.
France's external intelligence agency, DGSE, firmly rejected "accusations that the banning of accounts related to any electoral process was requested."
