Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced the dispatch of two special envoys to the United States to manage communication between the two countries until a new ambassador is appointed. The two representatives are a Romanian from the country and one based in the USA, according to the Prime Minister’s statements.
The one from the United States is Dragoș Sprînceană, a millionaire businessman who emigrated in 2002 and is a member of the Republican Party, the same party to which former US President Donald Trump belongs.
Meetings at Mar-a-Lago and Strategic Discussions
Ciolacu confirmed on Thursday that the two envoys have departed for the US to hold discussions with representatives of the Trump administration at Mar-a-Lago. The Prime Minister mentioned that interim President Ilie Bolojan is also aware of this initiative.
"They are two Romanians, one from Romania, one based in America. They did not leave on government funds. Both are using their own money," emphasized Ciolacu.
According to information published by HotNews, Dragoș Sprînceană confirmed that he is one of the designated envoys to maintain communication with the Trump administration. "Yes, I am one of the envoys," he stated, specifying that the purpose of the discussions is to "improve the strategic and economic bilateral relations" between Romania and the USA.
Dreamt of Being a Presidential Candidate
In an interview with Antena 3 in January, Sprînceană stated that Romania needs a businessman in leadership, as current politicians "lack experience." He also admitted that he had considered running for the presidential elections but avoided making a hasty decision.
"Just like in business, when I get involved, I usually win. I don't do things just to be busy. I care about my image as well as Romania's image, so I don't want to make premature decisions," the businessman declared.
The Story of the Romanian-American Billionaire
At 45 years old, Dragoș Sprînceană hails from Constanța, where he graduated from the Faculty of Financial and Accounting Management. He emigrated to the USA in 2002, where his first job was as a guard at a resort. Simultaneously, he pursued additional studies in the business field.
Currently, he leads GoldCoast Logistics Group, a company that manages six transportation firms, with terminals in Illinois, Arizona, and Florida, as well as offices in Constanța, Baia Mare, and Chișinău. The company has over 350 employees and a turnover of 60 million dollars.
The businessman is married and has three children. According to political sources cited by HotNews, Sprînceană was one of the significant sponsors of Donald Trump's presidential campaign in 2024.
