The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) summoned the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bucharest on Thursday regarding the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones.
According to MAE, at the instruction of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bucharest was summoned on Thursday to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be informed of Romania’s firm condemnation of the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones on the night of September 9/10, 2025.
"The Romanian side emphasized that, in terms of gravity, implications, and scope, the incident represents an unprecedented escalation and a threat to the security of the citizens of an Allied state and strategic partner of Romania. This incident once again illustrates the extensive and severe consequences of the aggression carried out by the Russian Federation against Ukraine on regional stability and European security," the ministry stated in a press release issued on Thursday evening.
Similarly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminded the Russian side of previous attacks by Russian forces against Ukrainian targets near the Romanian border.
"The irresponsible nature of these attacks, which affect national security and stability in the broader Black Sea region, and the imperative of respecting sovereignty and international law at the mouths of the Danube, were once again emphasized," the statement reads.
